E-Learning: NPTEL, ISRO and Coursera
National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) is a project of MHRD initiated by IITs and NITs to provide quality E-learning to anyone interested in learning from the higher education institutes. It provides E-learning through online Web and Video courses for enrolled students followed by an examination and certification. It is a regular practice of students of LIT to enroll for the e-learning programs of NPTEL. During lockdown period a large number of students have secured Elite certificates from NPTEL.
IIRS- ISRO is conducting e-learning programs using its own IIRS Learning Management System with an objective to provide an opportunity for students to learn Remote Sensing (RS) and Geo-information Science (GIS) for the benefit of their professional career. The basic course in RS and GIS will allows the students to build their knowledge and practical expertise in RS and GIS technologies with independent study and project experience. LIT has started coordinating these programs for the benefit of its students.
LIT has partnered with Coursera to provide its students with online learning opportunities during the COVID pandemic. The students have been able to take advantage of the catalog that contains over 4,000 certified courses from some of the world’s best universities (I.e. Princeton, Duke, etc.) and learn the skills of the future. By mid-June 2020 when the AV was prepared, 159 students have completed 72 Coursera programs from 24 different universities and institutions.
